Dublin North West Area Partnership were delighted to host our Social Inclusion Seminar on Friday, January 31st in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry which was attended by various local Cllrs and representatives of community and statutory bodies in the Dublin North West Area.
The event was opened by Tommy Simpson, Chair of the DNWAP Social Inclusion Action Appraisal Committee who welcomed Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe who officially opened the seminar and acknowledged the hard work of DNWAP staff and members of community groups
Senator Lynn Ruane was the keynote speaker for the morning and set a complimentary and positive tone speaking about the Potential of Community Development/Activism for Promotion of Social Inclusion.
Attendees then heard information and guidelines regarding the Grant Application Process from Mary Corridan, DNWAP Community Development Manager , followed by presentations from various community groups – Anne Devoy Kelly of Befrienders, Rachel Duff from Mellowe Spring/Odin’s wood, Peter Brannign from University of Third Age, Mary Carroll and Sinead Carolan, Cabra for Youth and the Launch of the video ‘City Farm Ballymun’ from Ballymun City Farm who ended the community groups presentation. Questions and feedback followed the presentations. Tommy Simpson closed the event by thanking the attendees and spoke of the importance of inclusivity as a value within the work of DNWAP
