After four years (2010-2014) working as the main electrician for McDonald’s restaurant across Dublin’s Northside, local electrician Joe Mooney decided he would venture out and start his own business.
“I had been very lucky as I was never actually left unemployed when the boom ended. I had considered starting my own business for sometime and did the research. I did a lot of the work myself, put it all together and I made an appointment with the Start Your Own Business Enterprise team in Dublin North West Area Partnership where I met up with Paul Hennelly. Paul went through the process of starting my own business. I was lucky as I already had a lot of the information that Paul required, so the process went smoothly. Paul also helped me apply for the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance. The application was successful and helped greatly.”
March 2014 saw the official launch of Joe’s business trading as Current Electrical. Current Electrical provides a whole range of electrical services including: Domestic, Commercial, Industrial, PAT Testing, Rewires, Extensions, Maintenances and 24 Hr Service. Joe is fully insured and a Registered Electrician.
In January 2015 Joe was featured in the RTE’s Room to Improve when he undertook electrical work on a 1930s cottage. The programme can be viewed on the RTE Player until Thursday the 12th of February (visit: http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/10367166/)
